Biography

Anne Weerapass has been singing professionally since she was 18, as a solo artiste, as well as a vocalist for various pop and jazz bands in Singapore. Her jazz repertoire covers the greats such as Ella Fitzgerald, Etta James, Anita O'Day, Dinah Washington and Dianne Reeves. Current favourites are new comers such as Jamie Cullum, Jane Monheit, Stacey Kent, and Randy Crawford.

Anne performs regularly at various jazz bars and clubs internationally and locally, presently alternating between the Mandarin Oriental Axis Bar and a popular jazz bar known as Blu Jaz in Singapore. Anne has also performed at The Fullerton, The Raffles Hotel, The Regent Hotel, Equinox at The Swisshotel, and The Bamboo Bar in The Oriental Hotel Bangkok.

Anne recorded her debut Jazz album “OUT OF NOWHERE” with Jeremy Monteiro, Belinda Moody, Shawn Kelly, and Saxman Koh in Los Angeles. The album features beautiful bossas and ballads and is available in all CD stores in Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand and Indonesia. You can also find her sultry sounds on CDBaby.com as well as Soundbuzz.com. “OUT OF NOWHERE” was also on the play list of the New York radio station, North County Public Radio.

Anne has also brought her performance to the big concert stage at the Fort Canning Park for the American Women's Association and The Heineken Jazz Festival with her acid jazz band, “K'ASS”.  Also at Singapore’s Mosaic Music Festival Concourse in the year 2010 with Rick Smith on guitar and Brandon Wong on bass, Mosaic Music Festival waterfront 2010 with Mei Sheum on piano and Joel Tan on bass, Singapore Formula One 2009, Sentosa’s Jazz by the Beach 2009, 2010, Esplanade’s All That Jazz 2009, and the Mosaic Music Festival 2007. During the inaugural opening night of Singapore's Mosaic Music Festival 2005, Anne's great vocals was taken to centre stage at Singapore's Esplanade Theatre, alongside internationally acclaimed Jazz saxophonist - James Moody with the Jeremy Monteiro Trio. She has also performed live in Jakarta at their well-known jazz club ‘Jamz'.

‘JAZZ TO SAY THANKS' was another highlight performance when Anne performed for Singapore's President S R Nathan, one performance that the 500 strong audience is unlikely to forget.

She has worked with top international stars such as Ronan Keating and Regine Velasquez, Esplanade Jazzy Christmas 2008 with Monteiro and the New Orleans recording artist Charlie Gabriel, Leroy Jones and Craig Klein, and performed in Concert In the Park Botanic Gardens 2010  with the internationally acclaimed recording band from Mexico “Sacbe”, as well as in Japan recording with Dick Lee during the promotional tour of his ‘Mad Chinaman' album.

Anne has a wide repertoire that covers contemporary jazz standards, R&B, hip-hop, acid jazz, Top 40s, pop, retro and classics.  Anne is a dynamic and versatile singer and this versatility allows her to form a lively rapport with the audience, be it a lounge full of jazz enthusiasts, a crowded dance floor of teens or a bar full of retro music fans.

Fortunately for Singapore, Anne often performs with local and foreign musicians throughout the region including;  Blu Jaz , Bar Stop, Ink Bar at the Fairmount, Sentosa Resorts World, Marina Bay Sands, TAB, Regent Hotel, and Jazz@Southbridge, as well as No Black Tie and Alexis Bar in Kuala Lumpur.
